iGRASPseed

iGRASP_seed is dedicated to outstanding doctoral research in protein science and technology on an internationally competitive level. Structural biology and biotechnology are two highly topical fields of application which are both based on a set of generic techniques in protein sciences, e.g., protein expression, purification and characterization. On the other hand, structural biology and biotechnology often need to complement each other, e.g., in the optimization process of an enzyme used for biocatalysis. Therefore, junior scientists having an all-embracing knowledge on both structural biology and biotechnology are urgently sought for in academia and companies. To fulfill this need, iGRASP_seed aims far beyond the currently running programs by bundling the uniquely broad, excellent expertise, infrastructure, and networks in biotechnology and structural biology present at Heinrich Heine University and Forschungszentrum Jülich under one umbrella and within an innovative concept as well as a sophisticated qualification program.
